Join artist Michael Rousseau to experience the grounds and historic architecture of the Hancock Shaker Village through charcoal. In this workshop we will focus on the architectural drawing of the Laundry and Machine Shop. This post-and-beam structure is generally clad in clapboard like most buildings in the Village, with a stone foundation and wooden roof shingles. Learn charcoal drawing techniques as you explore the shop through art surrounded by this idyllic Shaker landscape.

Materials

$10 Optional Charcoal Drawing Kit (add to cart below — students will receive kit upon arrival)

If not purchasing a Charcoal Drawing Kit, Suggested Materials are as follows:

• 1 compressed charcoal 1 2B charcoal pencil

• 1 6B charcoal pencil

• 1 white General's pencil

• 1 kneaded eraser

• Paper towel

• Sketchbook or sketch paper (recommended Strathmore sketch paper, 9"x12"

• Optional: Newsprint or paper to test techniques with
